BOSTON, MA — Northeastern and Notre Dame skated to a 3-3 tie on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.

The Irish tied the game at 16:07 of the third period when freshman Brad Wanchulak (Edson, ALB) scored a shorthanded goal off assists from Connor Dunlop (St. Louis, MO) and Evan Nielsen (Evanston, IL).

With the tie, Northeastern is now unbeaten in its last four games, and are 2-2-2 overall on the season. The Huskies skated to a tie on Friday night, 2-2, at New Hampshire. Notre Dame remains winless on the season with a record of 0-4-2.

The Fighitn’ Irish got on the board first, when John Wroblewski (Neenah, WI) scored at 4:59. His shot from the left circle banged in off the far post. Aaron Gill (Rochester, MN) assisted on the play. NU junior forward Mike Ryan (Milton, MA) put the Huskies on top 2-1 before the end of the first with a pair of goals. The first came at 14:55. Freshman Jaron Herriman (Sault Ste. Marie, ONT) skated in along the right boards and put a crossing pass on Ryan’s stick in front who scored his third goal of the season. Then at 17:43, Ryan added his second of the night on the power-play off assists from Jason Guerriero (Manorville, NY) and Willie Levesque (Vineyard Haven, MA). For Ryan, it is his second two-goal game of the season and the eighth of his career. He also had a pair of goals at Notre Dame last season in a 5-3 NU win Oct. 21.

Notre Dame fought back, tying the game at 5:33 of the second period when senior Jon Maruk (Eden Prairie, MN) scored his first collegiate goal. Dunlop assisted. NU quickly reclaimed the lead when freshman Tim Judy (Bowie, MD) scored his first collegiate goal on a slap-shot. Guerriero and Ryan had assists. The Huskies remained on top 3-2 until Wanchulak’s shorthanded goal.

For the game, NU outshot Notre Dame 32-22. Jason Braun (Fruitport, MI) had 19 saves for the Huskies and Tony Zasowski (Darien, IL) made 29 stops for the Irish. The Irish held NU to 1-10 on the power-play for the game.

The Huskies take to the road for three straight away games, beginning Friday Nov. 2 at Boston University.
