BOSTON, MA — Northeastern lost at sixth-ranked Boston University on Friday night 4-3 at Walter Brown Arena.

With the game tied 3-3 in the third period, BU's senior captain Chris Dyment (Reading, MA) scored the go-ahead shorthanded goal at 3:35. It was Dyment's second goal of the game and Ken Magowan (Kelowna, BC) and Gregg Johnson (Windsor, CT) each picked up their second assists on the play.

The Terriers improve to 4-0-0 and 2-0-0 in Hockey East on the season. The Huskies fall to 2-3-2 and 1-1-1 in Hockey East.

BU came out aggressive, putting a flurry of shots on NU goalie Jason Braun (Fruitport, MI) in the game's early minutes. But despite the Terriers having an early advantage in shots, it was the Huskies who took control of the game on the scoreboard. At 5:29 of the first, sophomore Ryan Dudgeon (Port Elgin, ONT) deflected a Jim Fahey (Milton, MA) shot past BU goalie Sean Fields (Edmonton, ALTA) for the goal. It was Dudgeon's first goal of the season. The Huskies added to their lead at 8:21 of the first on the power-play. Freshman Tim Judy (Bowie, MD) slid the puck across ice to Fahey at the left point. Fahey spotted Eric Ortlip (St. Louis, MO) at the right slot and got Ortlip the puck. The sophomore quickly deposited the puck in the net for his first goal of the season.

But as quickly as NU took a 2-0 lead, BU came right back to tie the game. Senior Mike Pandolfo (Burlington, MA) scored his third goal of the season at 8:21 off assists from John Sabo and Pat Aufiero. Then at 15:12 of the first, sophomore Frantisek Skladany (Martin, Slovakia) picked up his third goal of the season to knot the score 2-2.

The second period was marred by 15 combined penalties. For the game, NU was whistled 15 times for 30 minutes of penalties and BU 11 for 22.

The Terriers took their first lead of the game less than two minutes into the second period. At 1:34, Dyment scored his first goal of the game on the power-play. But as it appeared BU had taken control of the game with three-straight scores, the Huskies battled back. Just 69 seconds later, Fahey tied the game 3-3. With the Huskies on the power-play, Jason Guerriero (Manorville, NY) saw Fahey open at the left point. Fahey's slap shot beat Fields for his sixth goal of the season. Fahey, who had two assists to go with his goal, now has 13 points in seven games and has three three-point outings.

The Huskies were 2-4 on the power-play while holding BU to 1-8. NU was outshot 44-30 for the game, but the shots were tied 24-24 over the final two periods.

Braun finished the game with a career-high 40 saves while Fields had 27.

Northeastern returns to action on Saturday night at UMass-Amherst.
