BC's Dave Spina scored with 22 seconds remaining in overtime as Northeastern fell, 2-1, to fifth-ranked Boston College on Friday night at Conte Forum. Mike Morris scored a second period goal and Keni Gibson made 35 saves in the loss. Jason Guerriero and Jon Awe notched assists on Morris' goal.

Northeastern overcame an early 1-0 deficit to force overtime but couldn't notch a point. Northeastern is 1-8-1 when its opponent scores first this season. The Huskies are now 6-8-1 overall and 3-4-0 in Hockey East play while BC is 7-3-3 and 4-1-3.

The Huskies knotted it at 1-1 on Morris' goal on a power-play 5:55 into the second period. Awe took a rocket shot that was blocked by a BC defenseman. The puck went to Guerriero, who passed back and forth with Morris until Morris got the shot off from the left side for his sixth goal of the season.

The Huskies had some great scoring chances in the latter part of the second period but neither materialized. Brian Swiniarkski swooped across the crease and fired a shot that BC goalie Cory Schneider saved in the 14th minute. A minute later, Guerriero took a wide-open shot from the left side that went off the crossbar. Joe Santilli got a solid shot off with three minutes remaining that was blocked by BC's Joe Rooney.

Tim Judy stifled a last minute scoring attempt by Spina at the end of the third period to keep it 1-1 and send the game into overtime.

Boston College got out to an early lead with a goal from Matt Greene 3:10 into the first period. He was assisted by Dan Bertram and Rooney. The Huskies had some good scoring chances in the first, including a 5-on-3 power-play that lasted 1:32, but were unable to net a goal in the first.

The Huskies were outshot 37-29 and went 1-4 in power-play opportunities while holding the Eagles scoreless on five power-play chances.

The Huskies play UMass Lowell on Saturday night at Matthews Arena. The Huskies are looking for revenge against the Riverhawks after going 0-2-1 against them last season.
