| 2004-05 Schedule/Results Northeastern 4, Merrimack 3
The Huskies got goals from four different players, including the game-winner from Mike Morris, as they beat Merrimack, 4-3, on Monday night at Matthews Arena. It was Morris' fifth goal in the past four games and he also assisted on Jason Guerriero's goal. The Huskies improved to 9-12-3 overall and 5-7-2 in Hockey East to move into a tie for fifth in Hockey East with UMass Lowell. Merrimack fell to 7-19-2 overall and 1-15-1 in Hockey East. The Huskies jumped on board first when sophomore Josh Robertson scored three and a half minutes into the game. Robertson poked the puck away from a Merrimack defenseman, skated in at Merrimack goalie Jim Healey and beat Healey with a top-shelf shot. Sophomores Yale Lewis and Joe Santilli picked up assists. Four minutes later Merrrimack got a short-handed when Bryan Schmidt lofted the puck ahead to Derek Pallardy, who passed it across the ice to Brent Gough. Gough netted the goal at 7:25. The Huskies were still on a power-play and didn't leave the score tied long. Bryan Esner won the ensuing face-off and Jimmy Russo took the puck and passed it to Brian Swinarski and Swiniarski netted the goal at 7:32, just seven seconds later. With under four minutes remaining in the first period, Guerriero scored off a two-on-one pass from Morris. Jared Mudryk got the puck up to Morris. Midway through the second period Morris drilled a shot past Healey to give Northeastern a 4-2 advantage. Mudryk and Guerriero assisted on the goal. The Warriors fought back to get within one goal with 10 minutes remaining. Matt Johnson scored 19 seconds into the third period and teammate Scott Drewicki scored at 9:24 to give the Huskies a scare. NU didn't allow a goal in the final 10 minutes, however, and preserved the victory. The Warriors outshot the Huskies 36-33 in the game. It was the first time this season Merrimack outshot a Hockey East opponent. NU went 1 for 6 on the powerplay, while Merrimack went 1-8. Husky goalie Keni Gibson made 33 saves while Healey had 30. Northeastren travels to Maine to take on the Black Bears for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday at Alfond Arena. The Huskies topped Maine, 4-2, when the teams last met Nov. 12.
