| 2006-07 Schedule/Results New Hampshire 3, Northeastern 1
Senior captain Mike Morris scored his fourth goal in the last five games but the Huskies couldn't overcome a 3-0 deficit and New Hampshire took a 3-1 win over the Huskies on Saturday night at Matthews Arena. New Hampshire got a score from Kevin Kapstad in the first and goals from Brett Hemingway and Thomas Fortney in the second period. Huskies goalie Brad Thiessen made 38 saves in the game, including 12 shots on the power play. The Huskies got the first great scoring chance of the game when Randy Guzior stole the puck from a UNH defenseman at the red line and took in into the offensive zone for a breakaway. He shot it from the left corner of the crease but New Hampshire goalie Kevin Regan made the save on the play. Regan made 28 saves in the game. New Hampshire scored the first goal of the game after a faceoff at 16:00 in the first period. Mike Radja won the faceoff and got the puck back to Kapstad, a defenseman. Kapstad shot it through traffic from the point to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Hemingway scored 1:03 into the second period to give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead. Thiessen saved a Jacob Micflikier shot and the rebound went to Hemingway. Thiessen was able to save Hemingway's first shot, but he shot his own rebound into the open net. New Hampshire got its third goal at 11:05 in the second from Fortney. Fortney had just left the penalty box after a hooking call and was between the bluelines. Brad Flaishans got control of the puck in the Northeastern zone and chipped it ahead to Fortney, who scored on a breakaway. The Huskies pulled within two goals when Morris scored at 14:11 in the third period. Jimmy Russo won a faceoff in the offensive zone and got the puck to Kyle Kraemer on the boards. Kraemer passed the puck to Morris at the point and Morris scored his sixth goal of the season. Northeastern fell to 2-7-2 overall and 0-6-2 in Hockey East while New Hampshire improved to 9-2-1 and 7-1-1 in the league. New Hampshire is riding an eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) and has won five-straight games. Northeastern is back in action next weekend with a home-and-home series against Merrimack. The Huskies host Merrimack on Friday at Matthews Arena and play the Warriors at Lawler Arena on Saturday. Friday's game will be broadcast on 890 ESPN Boston and WRBB Radio, 104.9 FM while Saturday's game will be broadcast on 890 ESPN Boston.
