Before NU: Played four years of hockey at perennial powerhouse Catholic Memorial High (which produced Husky All-American Jim Fahey), becoming a standout defenseman and a top recruit out of the traditionally tough Catholic Conference...captained the team as a senior...CM won four state championships in his four seasons...helped lead the team to a 1-0 overtime shutout of rival BC High in the 2001 state title game; it was CM’s first ever shutout in a state final...named team MVP and All-Catholic Conference following senior season...also selected to the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team and Boston Herald Dream Team...was a freshman on the CMA state championship team captained by Fahey...threw the shot put and discus as a member of the CM track and field team for two seasons.
