Ortlip received the Herbert W. Gallagher Award as Northeastern's top male scholar-athlete. He was an assistant captain both his junior and senior years and finished his NU hockey career with 32 goals and 41 assists in 132 games. He was named to Hockey East's All-Academic team three years in a row (2002-04) and was named to the Academic All-Star team in 2003 & 2004, having the highest grade-point average of any forward in the league. He was also the recipient of the Northeastern men's hockey Paul Pagliarulo Unsung Hero Award.

2003-04: Played in all 34 games...set single-season career highs for points (27), goals (12) and assists (15)...was third on the team in points, goals and assists...led team in power-play goals with eight; tied for 16th in the nation...had five-game, point scoring streak with two goals and four assists from Jan. 17-Feb. 2...ended the season with points in five of the last six games (2-7-9)...played 18 games on line with Jared Mudryk and Brian Swiniarski, which combined for a line of 21-20-41...racked up a career-best four points on a goal and three assists in NU's 6-5 loss at UNH Feb. 22...gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead 71 seconds into the opening round of the Beanpot against Boston University Feb. 2...notched third power-play goal in as many games Jan. 10 against Holy Cross...scored in second straight game with a power-play goal in NU's 4-3 OT loss at BU Jan. 9...tallied third-period, power-play goal to put NU up 2-0 in its 3-0 victory over second-ranked Boston College Jan. 3...scored two power-play goals including the game-winner against Princeton Dec. 13, his second career two-goal game...assisted on both NU goals in a 5-2 loss at New Hampshire Nov. 22...scored a second-period goal in NU's 2-2 tie against Providence Nov. 7 at Matthews Arena...finished off a Bryan Esner pass for a first period goal against Merrimack Oct. 24 at Matthews Arena...scored a power-play goal in 5-2 loss at Denver Oct. 17...had an assist in season-opening, 3-3, tie with Colgate Oct. 11.

2002-03: Served as assistant captain...played in 26 games...recorded a point in nine of the first 14 games of the season, including five goals, before missing the next six due to injury...scored lone NU goal in 5-1 loss to Wisconsin Oct. 26...had a goal and an assist against Nov. 2...scored in loss to Maine Nov. 15...scored game-winning, power-play goal in 2-1 win over St. Lawrence Nov. 29...scored in back-to-back games, a 3-1 win over Providence Jan. 31 and 5-2 loss to fifth-ranked Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot Feb. 3.

2001-02: Played in every game...had a pair of assists against Mercyhurst Oct. 19...scored power-play goals at BU Nov. 2, at Providence Nov. 9. and against St. Lawrence Nov. 24...had a goal and an assist versus Iona Dec. 15...had an assist and first career shorthanded goal at Lowell Jan. 20...scored in Beanpot opener against Harvard Feb. 4...had a goal against Merrimack Feb. 8...had an assist against BU in the Beanpot finals Feb. 11...assisted on the game-tying goal against UNH Feb. 15 to extend point-scoring streak to nine games.

2000-01: Played in 31 games as a freshman…tallied first career point on an assist at UMass Lowell Oct. 27...scored first collegiate goal at Dartmouth Dec. 9; scored second career goal 17 seconds later, the game-winner in 3-2 NU victory; named Hockey East Rookie of the Week…had an assist in game one of Hockey East quarterfinals at Maine March 8 and a goal in game two.

Before NU: Played four seasons with the St. Louis Sting of the North American Hockey League...in 173 career games, had 75 goals and 85 assists for 160 points...captained St. Louis his last two years...had 28 goals and 30 assists in 1999-2000, good for sixth in the league in goals and seventh in points...led the league in shorthanded goals with five and overtime game-winning goals with three...selected to the NAHL All-Star Game...also played on the NAHL team that participated in USA Hockey’s Top Prospects Tournament in 1999-00...a member of the St. Louis Amateur Blues of the Michigan National Hockey League from 1994-97...in 146 games, had 98-83-181 line...three-year captain of the Blues...member of the Central District team in USA Hockey’s Select 15, Select 16 and Select 17 Festivals.

Personal: Born May 21, 1980...Coach Crowder is the fifth former NHL player to coach Ortlip; the others are Blake Dunlop, Rob Ramage, John Wensink and Rick Zombo...Political Science...Class of 2005.
