The Huskies will open the 2008 season with a game against Louisville on Saturday in Louisville, Ky. at 7:30 p.m. Fourth-year head coach Brian Ainscough’s team returns 16 lettermen, including eight starters. The Huskies are led by captains Jonathan Batista, Brendan Ennis and Lars Okland. Louisville is coming off their first ever NCAA Tourney appearance where they were knocked out in the second round. Mike Kennedy featured in Boston Globe
Northeastern's own Mike Kennedy is featured in today's Boston Globe. The freshman forward looks to compete for playing time for the Huskies this season after a very successful high school career at Lynnfield High School. In high school, Kennedy scored the most goals (76) and most points (121) in school history while also setting a single-season record in goals scored with 38.

Okland named to preseason All-CAA team
Lars Okland was named to the CAA preseason All-Conference team on defense. Okland, a 2008 captain, started all 19 games last year and was the anchor of a very strong defensive squad leading to his first All-CAA first team selection. Okland will lead the Huskies at Louisville in the team’s season opener on Aug. 30.

Hoeyem elected to NU Hall of Fame
Anders Hoeyem, Class of 2003, was inducted into Northeastern's Hall of Fame along with six others in formal ceremonies at Lombardo's Restaurant in Randolph, Mass., on April 18. Hoeyem graduated as the Huskies' third-highest goal scorer with 16 and ranked third in points with 65. He led the nation with 12 assists in 2000, the first time an NU soccer player led the nation in a statistical category.

2008 schedule announced
Husky head coach Brian Ainscough has announced the team's 2008 schedule. The Huskies will play an 18-game schedule, including 11 CAA contests. The season will begin at Louisville on August 29 and the team's first home game will be against Providence on September 15 at Parsons Field. Northeastern opens its CAA schedule on September 27 when it hosts James Madison.

Ainscough honored
Northeastern head coach Brian Ainscough was college coach of the year by the Eastern Massachusetts High School Soccer Coaches Association in February. Ainscough was the guest speaker at the organization's annual banquet in February. He led Northeastern to an 8-10-1 overall record, including a 6-4-1 record in the highly-competitive CAA in 2007. The Huskies went 6-2-1 over their final nine regular season games.
Kilkenny and Okland receive regional honors
Senior Greg Kilkenny and sophomore Lars Okland were named to the All-South Atlantic third team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Dec. 14. Kilkenny and Okland were among 13 CAA players chosen for the 32-player regional roster. Both players were named to the All-CAA first team earlier in the year. Kilkenny finished his career fifth in the Husky record books in career goals (18), assists (14) and points (50).
