NU Junior Petter Starnas picked up where he left off last season, scoring two goals to lead Northeastern to a 3-1 win over Rider in the first round of the Bronc Fall Classic in Lawrenceville, N.J. After a scoreless first half, Rider scored on its first shot of the season, going ahead 1-0 in the 47th minute. Starnas, who scored a team-record 16 goals in 1999, tied the game, 1-1, in the 60th minute. Following Starnas' equalizing goal off a long pass from Jochen Saier, freshman Peter Mosconi netted his first career goal as a Husky (off a rebound from a Starnas shot) to put NU ahead to stay, 2-1, in the 72nd minute. Starnas then scored on a penalty kick in the 79th minute to complete the scoring. Allan Lewis earned the win in net, making a pair of saves. NU outshot the Broncs 13-4. SCORING:
