| 2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 2, Boston University 1 (OT)
Northeastern improved its record to 4-1 in America East and 7-6 overall on Saturday night with an impressive 2-1 win in overtime against visiting Boston University at Parsons Field. Ben Collins scored the game-winning goal just over four minutes into OT. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 9 of last year at BU. The game went into overtime and it was the Huskies' first-ever win at Nickerson Field. This year at Parsons, once again the game went into overtime and the Huskies emerged on top. Things started out rough for the Huskies as a foul by Allan Lewis on an Andy Dorman breakaway resulted in a penalty kick 15 minutes into the game. A tremendous save by Lewis kept the game scoreless. Later that half though, with two minutes left, Anthony D'Angelo netted a goal for BU off of a Chris Bone corner kick. The Huskies retaliated with a goal 2:14 into the second half. Blair Carroll headed the ball in off of an Anders Hoyem free kick. With time winding down, BU had a chance to score on an open net with Lewis distracted, but a tremendous save by defender Oumar Thiam kept the score even. Four minutes and 15 seconds into overtime, Hoyem set up the winning goal with a corner kick that Collins netted. It was his third of the season. SCORING: 2nd Half: Overtime: SHOTS: CORNERS: SAVES: |
