Northeastern came one step closer to achieving its goal of reaching the America East playoffs on Sunday with a 2-1 overtime win against conference opponent Hartford at Parsons Field. Phonethip Ketnouvong scored the game-winning goal in the 99th minute of play off a Blair Carroll pass. The win improved the Huskies' conference record to 5-2, while Hartford fell to 2-4-2. The game started off with both teams playing quite evenly, but the Hawks were the first to capitalize on an opportunity when Henrik Jacobsson scored off a cross from Peter Sjolin at the 13-minute mark. The Huskies retaliated three minutes later with a Chris Beston goal off an Anders Hoyem corner kick. The assist was Hoyem's 12th of the season, which ranks him among the nation's top five. The two teams then played a scoreless second half until the game was decided by Ketnouvong's goal in overtime.
