Sophomore Daniel Wasson scored at 8:15 of the second overtime period Sunday to give the Air Force men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Northeastern at the John Byrden Classic at the University of Denver. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 2-3 on the season while Air Force improves to 3-3.
NU looked like it had control of the game early when sophomore Jay Betley scored just 34 seconds into the match on a pass from junior Michael Cipriano, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
Falcons freshman Austin Hoxie would tie things up in the 36th minute though, scoring his first career goal on an assist from junior Marcus Sagastume to knot it at one.
Air Force outshot the Huskies, 17-8, while also taking the advantage in shots on goal, 8-4. Goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio posted six saves for the Huskies, while Air Force goalkeeper Mike Maynard made two saves in his first collegiate victory.
The Huskies return to action on Thursday when they host Quinnipiac at 3 p.m. at Parsons Field.
