The men's soccer team tied defending America East champion Binghamton (7-1-5, 1-1-2), 1-1, at Parsons Field on Saturday. Tom Heimreid scored NU's goal off a free kick.

The Huskies (2-5-4) attacked right from the start when co-captain Tim Heimreid crossed a pass to senior forward Michael Cipriano, who had a header stopped by Binghamton keeper Stefan Gonet.

The Bearcats jumped on the board first when senior forward Charles Darkwah scored on a breakaway for his eighth goal of the season.

Northeastern's aggressive attack paid off in the 53rd minute. Heimreid curved a free kick to the right of Gonet to score his first goal of the season

NU had a chance to take the lead when junior midfielder Julian Daniels missed the net with a shot that hit the post and trickled on the line before a Bearcat defensemen cleared it.

Northeastern goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio and Gonet each had two saves. NU outshot the Bearcats, 11-10.

The Huskies take on New Hampshire in Durham, N.H., on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
