The men's soccer (3-10-4) team lost to Stony Brook (11-5-2) 2-1 Wednesday, ending its season. Junior co-captain Tom Heimreid scored NU's only goal. With the loss, the Huskies' five-year run of postseason appearances comes to an end.
Stony Brook scored first in the 21st minute, when Chris Scarpati tallied his second goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Anthony Barberio and Jose Sura.
NU struck back when Heimreid nailed a direct kick from 15 yards out. It was his second goal of the season.
The Seawolves broke the deadlock when Dan Salazar crossed a pass to Anthony Barberio, who put it in from 25 yards out with less than three minutes left in the game.
Senior goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio and Stony Brook's John Mochella each had five saves.
The Seawolves outshot the Huskies, 17-11. Stony Brook also had the edge in corners, 9-4.
