The Northeastern men's soccer team (1-3-1) lost to the University of Rhode Island (2-2-1), 3-1, in Kingston, R.I. this evening. Sophomore forward Greg Kilkenny scored the Huskies lone goal as NU dropped its third contest of the season.
URI would strike first, 12 minutes into the game, on a Jeffrey Gonsalves goal off a feed from Lukasz Tumicz. The Huskies would respond roughly 17 minutes later when freshman forward Ben Levy found Kilkenny inside.
Tumicz would answer back with a goal of his own at the 50-minute mark. Only 2:38 later, sophomore midfielder Dawid Bedecki would deflect his own pass off a NU defender to give Rhode Island a two-goal advantage into the half.
The second half went scoreless. Senior goalkeeper Sergio Saccoccio was credited with seven saves.
NU hosts Holy Cross next Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m.
