The Northeastern men’s soccer team defeated Columbia by a count of 4-0 at Parsons Field on Sunday for its second victory of the season.

The Huskies scored four goals for the second game in a row, as they found plenty of shot opportunities throughout the game. “I thought we finished our chances really well,” assistant coach James Greenslit said. “Earlier in the year we had trouble finishing, but lately we have done a great job of it.”

Ahmed Talaat didn’t waste any time getting Huskies on the scoreboard, the senior forward took a pass from Brendan Ennis and beat two defenders in the box before tapping it by the Lions goalkeeper just three minutes into the game.

Talaat struck again later in the half, putting in a rebound after Lions goalkeeper Michael Testa made a save on Jonathan Batista’s shot.

The Huskies put the game out of reach early in the second half. Greg Kilkenny beat a defender after a pass from Padraig Tangney and launched a 25 yard strike into the top right part of the goal for his first score of the season. Less than 30 seconds later Kilkenny crossed a pass to Lewis Ehrlich that he fired into the net to make the score 4-0. It was Ehrlich's first goal of the season.

Mahmoud Talaat earned his first shutout of the year, recording two saves in the victory. Greenslit was impressed with the Husky defense, “I thought they didn’t give up too many opportunities, there was great communication between Lars (Okland) and Mahmoud (Talaat) the whole game."

With a record of 2-0 at Parsons and at 0-3 away, the Huskies seem to dominate when playing at home. “We definitely have an edge when we play at Parsons,” said Greenslit. “Playing in front of our fans really makes a difference.”

The Huskies take on Holy Cross at Parsons Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m. as they will try for their third consecutive win.
