| 2008 Schedule/Results Northeastern 1, James Madison 0
The Huskies got a goal from Nick Lueders in the 11th minute and played strong defense to shutout James Madison 1-0 Sunday morning at Parsons Field. The shutout is the Huskies' fourth consecutive and puts NU's record at 3-2-3 (1-0-0 CAA). James Madison falls to 3-3-2 (0-1-0 CAA) on the season. The Huskies are currently on a four game unbeaten streak. Keeper Scott Partridge made four saves in the shutout effort, which was his fourth in his career. The Huskies defense played another great game, only allowing nine shots, four on goal. "It was a tough match being so early in the day and with all the rain," said head coach Brian Ainscough. "I thought we responded well and we didn't make any excuses." The weather forced the game to be cancelled Saturday evening due to bad field conditions. The Huskies struck first in the 11th minute when Lueders received a pass from Brendan Ennis and put the ball in the top left corner of the net at 10:12. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced into the net. The goal was Lueders' first of the season. The Huskies almost struck again several minutes later when Lewis Ehlrich shot the ball at the goalkeeper. The ball bounced off the keeper's hands and Santiago Bedoya fired a shot that hit the post. "We ask Bedoya to do a lot," said Ainscough. "He basically controls the entire left side of the field. I thought he played very well. He's got an engine." In the second half, the Huskies shutdown any attack from JMU as the Dukes only got off two shots on goal. James Madison had a couple free kicks close to the box, but were not able to capitalize on the opportunities. The Huskies out shot the Dukes 12-9 in the game and also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Northeastern is back in action on Saturday when the Huskies will visit Georgia State.
