Northeastern University senior Greg Kilkenny has been named the CAA Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The forward led the Huskies to a pair of victories over the weekend, scoring a goal and adding two assists.

On Friday, Kilkenny launched a pass from over 40 yards away and placed it perfectly in front of senior Ahmed Talaat, who fired it into the net with nine minutes to play to give the Huskies a 1-0 win over George Mason.

The Bray Wicklow, Ireland native had a hand in both Northeastern goals on Sunday in a 2-0 win over Towson. Kilkenny took a penalty kick from 30 yards away that senior defender Padraig Tangney headed home for the 1-0 lead. He then added an insurance goal when he put in rebound with 15 minutes to go in the second half, giving him four points on the weekend.

Kilkenny now has six goals, and his nine assists and 21 points rank him second in the CAA in both categories. With one more game to go in the regular season, he has already passed his point total from last year by four, a year in which he was named Second Team All-CAA.

With help from Kilkenny, Northeastern clinched a spot in the CAA playoffs for the second straight year. The team is now 6-1-1 in its last eight games and 7-1 when playing at Parsons Field.

Northeastern will wrap up the regular season on Thursday by visiting Hofstra for a 7 p.m. match in Hempstead, N.Y.
