Huskies fifth at the CAA Championship

Northeastern placed fifth in the 19th CAA Championship on Friday and Saturday in Williamsburg, Va. UNC Wilmington won the title for the second year in a row with 194.5 points followed by host William & Mary (190), Virginia Commonwealth (144), Delaware (87.5), Northeastern (85), George Mason (67) and Georgia State (36).

The Huskies had two champions in the meet: senior Ed Reardon and sophomore Adrian Li. Reardon won the discus with a throw of 149'6 and took second in the hammer with a throw of 162'2 on Friday. Li won the high jump, clearing 6'6.75. He tied runner-up Cameron Shriver of William & Mary and Husky freshman Andrew Staples, who finished third, at 6'6.75 but had fewer misses to win the event. Matt Bowen took sixth in the high jump for the Huskies.

Behind Reardon in the throws, freshman Ian Anderson placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 138'10 and senior Mark McBrine took seventh at 135'11 while Alex Iannetta took eighth in the hammer (146'0). Redshirt freshman Lloyd Clarke took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 47'1.5.

The Huskies had a pair of scorers in the hurdles. Sophomore Jonathan Hall placed third in the 400 hurdles in 53.54 and junior Cord Parks took fourth in the 110 hurdles in 14.99.

Junior Dan Anderson cleared 15'7 in the pole vault to place third. He tied champ Colton Weaver and runner-up Aaron Wiggins of UNC Wilmington, but had more misses and took third. Freshman Pablo Rodriguez took seventh in the pole vault, clearing 14'1.25.

Justin Benjaminson placed sixth in the 10-event decathlon to score three points for the Huskies. Freshman Dan Brooks also competed in the decathlon, taking 11th. Brooks also took fourth in the javelin on Friday, throwing it 170'10. Ron Conway took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 169'5. Freshman Brian Racca took seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 45'2.25.

Finishing up the meet for the Huskies were Stephen James, Abu Ibraheem, Hall and Jonathan Watkins, who combined to place third in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:20.08.

Lloyd Clarke was the first Husky to score on Saturday, placing sixth in the shot put.

Sophomore Adrian Li won the high jump, clearing 6'6.75. He took second last year.

Freshman Andrew Staples also cleared 6'6.75 and placed third on misses.

Matt Bowen took sixth in the high jump.

Cord Parks clears the ninth hurdle in the 110 hurdles.

Parks punished the final hurdle to get to the finish, placing fourth in 14.99 seconds.

John Griffin anchored the 4x100 relay but the Huskies were disqualified.

Dan Brooks also competed in the decathlon, placing 11th.

Abu Ibraheem ran the second leg of the relay.

Jonathan Hall ran a spectacular third leg of the 4x400 relay.

Jonathan Watkins anchored the relay, which finished third in 3:20.08.
