Li named to CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 first team

Sophomore Adrian Li of the Northeastern University men’s track & field team was named to the District 1 All-Academic first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Li, who holds a 3.78 grade-point-average as a Chemical Engineering major, was the Huskies’ top high jumper in 2008.

Li won the high jump at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship on April 19 at William & Mary. He cleared 6'6.75 for the victory. He cleared the same height to place fourth in the high jump at the New England Championship May 10 at the University of New Hampshire. Li’s season-best high jump was 6’8, which he cleared while winning the Seahawk Invitational at UNC Wilmington. He competed in the NCAA East Regional Championship at Florida State on May 30.

During the 2007-08 indoor season, Li won the high jump at the Husky Winter Carnival on Dec. 1, Dartmouth Relays on Jan. 13 and Battle of Beantown at Harvard on Feb. 2. NU won the Battle of Beantown, topping Boston College, Boston University and Harvard.

As a freshman during the 2006-07 season, Li placed fourth in the high jump at the New England Championship during the indoor season and cleared 6’6.75 to place second at the CAA Championship during the outdoor season.

Li is from Canton, Mass., and is a 2006 graduate of Canton High School. He competed in the high jump at the All-State and All-New England championships in high school.
