Hello Husky Fans!

Husky Pride is Growing

Many of you in Husky land are showing your spirit by wearing the "Husky Pride" wrist band. The bracelet was created by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as a community service effort. The red bands promote Husky Pride while at the same time raising funds for the Special Olympics. SAAC has sold 2,600 Husky Pride bracelets at various sporting events. The sale of the bands along with the increased student attendance at athletic events proves that Husky Pride is growing.

Student Section has Opponents Seeing Red

The Solomon Court is quickly becoming one of the toughest courts in America East for basketball opponents to visit. The men's basketball team is 6-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play at home. The intimate setting places fans on top of the action with the furthest seat only 30 feet from the court! The Huskies have given fans plenty to cheer about with their exciting style of play. The "Swat Team" and "Dog House" have teamed up and are boosting attendance at both basketball and hockey games. Check out this photo from the Northeastern versus Vermont game on January 5. All of the student seats are filled and, everyone is on their feet cheering on the Huskies!

Crowd of 3,150 Watches NU Beat BU at Matthews

The Northeastern versus Boston University doubleheader at Matthews Arena attracted 3,150 fans on January 19. The atmosphere was electric as the men's basketball team beat BU 77-75. Everyone knows that Matthews Arena is a great building for hockey and the students have shown that they can rock the arena for hoops as well. Men's basketball will play nine home Colonial Athletic Association conference games next season at Matthews Arena. I am confident that our fans will continue to provide a home court advantage and make Matthews Arena a tough place to play for opponents.

Huskies Hungry for Beans

Congratulations to the men's hockey team for defeating Harvard in double overtime to advance to the 53rd Beanpot Championship game. The Huskies will face cross-town rival Boston University on Monday, February 14 at 8:00 PM. I would like to thank all of our great fans for showing their Husky Pride at the Fleetcenter.

Go Huskies!
