Silva named ECAC Goalie of the Week
Date of Release: Jan. 8, 2001

BOSTON, MA - Erika Silva, a senior on the Northeastern women's hockey team, was named ECAC Goalie of the Week. It was the second time this season she has won the honor.

Silva backboned a 4-0 victory over top-ranked and undefeated Dartmouth Friday Jan. 5. The Middletown, R.I. native made 40 saves, making 30 stops over the final two periods. It was her third shutout of the season and 20th of her career. The 40-save shutout was also the second time this season Silva made at least 40 saves while not allowing any goals. Two days later against Minnesota-Duluth, the second-ranked team in the nation, Silva came up with 36 saves. For the week, Silva stopped 76 of 79 shots she faced.

Her victory against Dartmouth was the 56th of her career. She needs just two more to become the all-time winngest goalie in Northeastern history. Shannon Meyers (1995-99) holds the record with 57 wins.

Silva won the award earlier this season after making 45 saves in a 3-0 win over Ohio State. On the season, Silva has an 11-2-0 record with a 1.62 goals against average and a .945 save percentage.
