Student-Athletes First Program

Northeastern is committed to help its student-athletes achieve success in three major areas: classroom success, community involvement and competitive excellence, also known as "The Three C's."

Introduced in 2004, the Student-Athletes First program encompasses the mission of the intercollegiate athletics program by placing an emphasis on the development of the student-athlete as a whole, as well as the experience they will have during their time at Northeastern University. Student-Athletes First is designed to meet the needs of the student-athlete in accordance with Northeastern’s goal of being a student-centered institution.

Under the leadership of Associate Athletics Director Peter Roby, the Student-Athletes First commitee oversees the five components of the Student-Athletes First program, which are all geared to ensure that student-athletes will have the best possible experience at Northeastern. The five components are the student-athlete welcome, continuing education, career preparation, community involvement and continued involvement. The Athletics Department strives to assist in student-athletes’ development both as athletes and as people. After graduation, the program encourages continued involvement with Northeastern Athletics to assist in creating a positive environment for future Husky student-athletes.
