Kelso elected to Hall of Fame
Laura Kelso-Shiman, a native of Pine Bush, N.Y., has been elected to
the Northeastern University Hall of Fame for excellence in the sport of
swimming. Kelso, Class of 1984, will be inducted along with six others
in formal ceremonies at Northeastern’s Curry Student Center in Boston,
Mass., on May 21.

Kearns receives All-CAA honors
Freshman Jill Kearns has earned All-CAA accolades for her performance at the CAA Championship. Kearns was honored for her third place finish in the 400 IM, which broke an NU record. The Huskies placed eighth at the championship, which was held in Fairfax, Va., Feb. 25-28.

Huskies rewrite records in '09 season
Coming off of the program’s second-ever undefeated season, expectations
were high for the Huskies. While NU was unable to repeat, the team
showed great promise, breaking 13 records on route to a 7-6 season (2-3
in the CAA) and an eighth-place finish at the CAA Championship.

Huskies finish 8th at CAA Championship
The Huskies finished the 2009 season coming in eighth at the CAA Championship Feb. 25-28 at the Jim McKay Natatorium at George Mason University. Northeastern saw numerous school records fall during the four-day competition. Nine NU records were broken in total, two by freshman Jill Kearns, one each by senior Elena Alvarez and juniors Emily Sutliff, Natalia Snegour and Erica Smotrycz, and three by NU relay teams.

Huskies compete against Harvard
The Huskies closed the regular
season with a non-scoring meet against Harvard Friday night. NU
competed in 11 events, nine of which were relays, and won and the
150-yard freestyle relay with a team of Erica Smotrycz, Rachel Mondello, and Kathrine Fugge. Northeastern will compete at the CAA Championship next Wednesday, Feb. 25-28.
