Seniors Elena Alvarez and Alexandra Doty have been named co-captains of the swimming & diving team for the 2008-09 season. Alvarez holds school records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, while Doty was a member of the record-setting 200 and 400 medley relay teams at the 2008 CAA Championship.

Five honored by CAA
Five Huskies received All-CAA honors for their performances at the CAA Championship last month in Fairfax, Va. The honorees include senior Kara Lane, juniors Elena Alvarez, Alexandra Doty and Heather Whiting and sophomore Kathrine Fugge. The team placed fifth at the championship.

NU places fifth at CAA Championship
The Huskies finished in fifth with 341.5 points at the 2008 CAA Championship in Fairfax, Va. on Sat., March 1, concluding a season in which the team went 10-0. In the final day of competition, Kara Lane placed second in the 200 butterfly (2:02.76) and Kathrine Fugge finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (51.43). Both times were personal records.

Northeastern looks to CAA Championship after 10-0
Northeastern will participate in the CAA Championship in Fairfax, Va. from Wed., Feb. 27 to Saturday, March 1 after wrapping up a perfect season. Last year the Huskies placed sixth in the Championship. The last time the Huskies placed first in a championship was in 2004 when they competed in the America East Conference.

Northeastern defeats Dartmouth, 165.5-134.5
Northeastern defeated Dartmouth 165.5-134.5 on Saturday, Feb. 9, concluding the regular season with a 10-0 record (3-0 CAA). The meet was Senior Day, and seniors Kara Lane and Brooks Wallace won all of their events after being honored prior to the meet. The Huskies finished the season undefeated for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

Lane named CAA Swimmer of the Week
Senior co-captain Kara Lane was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced on Jan. 22. The Kentwood, Mich. native helped Northeastern to a 154-145 win over Boston University and a 175-124 win over New Hampshire on Jan. 19, placing first in both the 100 (57.68) and 200 (2:04.99) butterfly events for the second meet in a row.
