Fourteen members of the Northeastern swimming & diving team have been honored with the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award for having a grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2007-08 season.

Seniors Brittany Gilles and Brooks Wallace; juniors Alexandra Doty, Courtney Flanagan, Kristen Ohlsen, Tara Thompson and Heather Whiting; sophomores Jackie Dalessandro, and Kathrine Fugge and freshmen Emily Hanson, Shira Lewis, Carolyn Marsh, Sarah Martin and Jennyfer Roberts all received awards.

Four of these members also had standout performances at the CAA Championship back in February. Doty participated in the first place 400 medley relay team and Fugge placed fourth in the 100 freestyle. Also, Wallace came in fourth in the 1- and 3-meter diving while Whiting came in third in the 100 breaststroke and swam on the winning 400 medley relay team.

Fugge also broke three individual school records and two team records at the 2008 CAA Championship in the 100 and 200 freestyle, at times of 51.43 and 1:50.26 along with the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.56. Fugge was also a member of the record-breaking relay teams for both the 200 and 400 medley relay races along with teammates Doty, Whiting, and Kara Lane at times of 1:44.52 and 3:47.81, respectively.

The Northeastern swim team went undefeated for only the second time in school history this year accumulating wins over Boston College and Boston University while beating out CAA opponents Delaware James Madison and Old Dominion. The Huskies also came in fifth at the CAA Championship, the highest placing in school history. With only three seniors moving on, the Huskies are in good shape for next season.
