The Weekly Watch

Northeastern went 1-2 on the week as the Huskies played in three matches at the 2002 URI Volleyball Classic, giving NU a season record of 4-5. With its win on Saturday afternoon over host Rhode Island, NU snapped a five-match losing streak, after winning its first three matches to start the year.

Senior Lindsay Wagner had an impressive weekend for Northeastern at the tournament in Kingston, R.I. Wagner averaged 4.18 kills per game and 1.64 digs per game, while hitting .302 in NU’s three matches. Wagner’s best match of the weekend came against host URI as she posted 21 kills on 45 attacks with just five errors for a hitting percentage of .356.

Freshman Larissa Adomat had a solid weekend for NU. Adomat racked up 29 kills on 75 attacks with just eight errors for a hitting percentage of .280 on the Huskies’ three matches. Versus Baylor, Adomat tallied a week-high 12 kills.

Junior Kristin Ursillo continued to pace the Husky offense on week three of the season. Ursillo averaged 11.55 assists per game and also added 20 digs on the week. She also had seven service aces and six total blocks in Northeastern’s three matches on the weekend.

Another notable on the week was senior Erin Spangler. The co-captain hit an impressive .483 on the week and had her best match against URI as she tallied 15 kills on 24 error-less attacks for a hitting percentage of .625. Spangler also added a 13 total blocks in NU’s three matches.

The week ahead...

Northeastern travels to Valparaiso, Ind. to compete in the 2002 Valparaiso Invitational on Sept. 20-21. NU first squares off against host Valpo on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Fairfield at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and Jacksonville at 3 p.m.
