The volleyball team fell to 1-2 on Friday, dropping a three-game match (30-23, 30-26, 30-25) to national powerhouse Loyola Marymount (1-0) in the opening game of the LMU/Four Points Sheraton Classic. The Lions outhit the Huskies in the contest .311 to .146. Senior middle hitter Larissa Adomat posted a season-high eight kills and a .533 attack percentage for the match. The Lions took the first game 30-23, hitting a robust .317 for the game. Christianna Reneau registered seven kills and a .500 attack percentage for LMU, while Adomat and Lauren DeTurk registered four kills apiece for NU. The Huskies took an early lead in the game, but LMU fought back to tie the game at six. The two teams continued to battle to 15-15, when the Lions landed five straight points to gain momentum and came away with the victory. In game two, the Huskies took an early 5-1 lead and despite numerous charges from the Lions, maintained that lead to a 23-21 edge. LMU then ran off three straight points to take a 24-23 lead, when DeTurk hammered home back-to-back kills to put NU back in front. Loyola Marymount was then able to tally five straight points to push Northeastern to the brink at 29-25 and moved on to the 30-26 victory.. Game three began with the two teams neck and neck at 4-4, when LMU took a strong lead at 11-7. The Huskies fought back to ties at 11 and 13, but from then on out the Lions won 17 of the final 19 points. Loyola hit .308 in the third and final game, while NU nailed just seven kills. DeTurk led the Huskies with 10 kills, while Kira Batura put home nine kills to go along with her 11 digs. Freshman Sarah Stein and junior Ivana Pavlisin each posted double-doubles in the match. Stein registered 13 assists and 10 digs, while Pavlisin posted 19 assists and 11 digs. Senior Brandie Genibrel led NU with 15 digs in the match. LMU had three attackers finish with double-digit kills, led by Reneau’s 13. K.C. Walsh registered 47 assists, while Reneau led the Lions with 20 digs. The Huskies are back in action Saturday, when they take on Idaho at 1:30 p.m. EST in their second game of the LMU Classic. Volleyball Detailed Stats
