Dean enters her fourth season as assistant coach at Northeastern after helping lead the Huskies to a 20-11 overall record and an 11-3 conference mark in 2004. In the Huskies first season in the Colonial Athletic Association she helped head coach Ken Nichols to a tie for sixth place.
Dean is the co-director of the Husky Tune Up, clinic held every year in August. She works to co-ordinate practices and training sessions and instruct players on skill development. She serves as the recruiting coordinator for Coach Nichols and oversees the fundraising and community service projects.
Dean came to Northeastern following a standout-playing career at Dartmouth. The La Jolla, Calif., native served as team captain in 2000 and 2001 and was an All-Ivy League selection from 1999-2001. She was a first team selection at the Ivy League Tournament in 1999. She still holds the record for career digs (1,1481).
Upon graduation, Dean began her coaching career as an assistant coach with the Metro Volleyball Club of Virginia in 2003. Before coming to NU, Dean was the varsity volleyball and softball coach at National Cathedral High School in Washington, D.C., where she led each team to a second place finish in the league.
Dean was invited to coach at the USA High Performance Select A2 Team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in July and serves as a court coach and evaluator for Youth and National High Performance Tryouts at various sites around the country throughout the club season.
Dean is currently working on getting her MBA from Northeastern. She resides in the North End.
