Kristin Deatherage was named to the 2001 UConn Invitational All-Tournament team
Kristin Ursillo and Kristin Deatherage both received tournament accolades for their excellent play in three matches at the 2001 UConn Invitational. Ursillo was named Tournament MVP, while Deatherage was one five named to the All-Tournament team.

In 12 games played over three matches, Ursillo and Deatherage led the Huskies to a 2-1 record and the 2001 UConn Invitational title.

A San Diego, Calif. native, Ursillo averaged 0.9 kills, 11.8 assists and 2.9 digs per game. In all three matches of the tournament, she recorded double-doubles (assists-digs). In NU's opening match of the tourney, Ursillo tallied 38 assists and 13 digs, followed by 52 assists and 12 digs and 52 assists and 10 digs.

Deatherage, a Huntington Beach, Calif. native, led the Huskies' offense as she averaged 3.6 kills per game. She notched up 12, 15 and 16 kills respectively in all three of NU's matches. Her streak of consecutive double-digit kills matches has been extended to eight.

Along with Deatherage, UConn's Christine Lambert and Maria Shaker, Brown's Jessie Cooper and St. Peter's Valentina Zaharieva also made the All-Tournament team. Deatherage was also named to the 2001 Penn Invitational All-Tournament team last weekend.

The Huskies are now 9-6 on the season and are headed into their first America East matchup of the season. NU travels to New York to take on new conference foe Albany on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
