Senior Kristin Deatherage (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has been named America East Player of the Week for her excellent performance for the Northeastern University volleyball team.
Deatherage led the Huskies to a perfect 3-0 week including two conference wins to remain undefeated in America East play. She was a catalyst of NU's offense all week.
A Huntington Beach, Calif. native, Deatherage notched up 12 kills against Holy Cross and hit an impressive .474 for the match. She added 15 kills and five blocks against Stony Brook, while hitting .419, and had a week-high 17 kills against Hartford.
On the week, Deatherage averaged 4.0 kills, 0.7 blocks and 1.3 digs per game, while hitting .363. She has recorded double-digit kills in 16 of the Huskies' 20 matches, including the last 14 straight, and has four double-doubles (kills-digs) this season.
Deatherage also ranks among the conference leaders as she is sixth in hitting percentage (.272) and ninth in kills per game (3.3).
As a team, Northeastern is off to a great start. After dropping three of their first four matches, the Huskies have turned things around to win 14 of their last 17 and are currently amidst a six-match win streak.
NU has yet to lose at home this season as they are a perfect 7-0 at Solomon Court, tying a school record for most consecutive home victories in one season.
Deatherage is majoring in Physical Therapy and is a member of the Class of 2003.
