DeTurk named CAA co-Player of the Week

For the second time in the three weeks, junior Lauren Deturk has been named CAA Player of the Week. In helping the Huskies to two wins over George Mason and James Madison, DeTurk had 43 kills, including a season high 25 against the Dukes. She also had 33 digs, giving her double-doubles in both games. Northeastern is the No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament and has a bye into the semifinals, The Huskies will play either No. 3 Hofstra or No. 6 George Mason on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Deturk had 18 kills in Friday’s win over George Mason to go along with 16 digs. In Saturday’s win over James Madison, DeTurk broke her previous season high of 23 kills with a 25 kill performance.

For the weekend, DeTurk averaged 5.38 kills per game, and 4.12 digs per game. DeTurk’s two double-doubles gave her 19 on the season.

DeTurk’s honor is the fourth time this season a Husky has been honored by the CAA. Caitlin Tittl was named co-Rookie of the Week last week, and Britney Brown was named Rookie of the Week in September.
