BOSTON, MA - Four Northeastern volleyball players were honored by the America East conference for their outstanding performance in the 2001 volleyball season. Sophomore setter Kristin Ursillo was named America East Setter of the Year and first team All-Conference, while Kristin Deatherage, Erin Spangler and Gianina Pellegrini were also named to the first team.

Ursillo, a native of San Diego, Calif., has been the catalyst for the Husky offense averaging 11.25 assists per game. She has racked up double-digit assists in every match and has tallied 13 double-doubles this season. Ursillo also recorded her first career triple-double against New Hampshire on Oct. 6 with 11 kills, 54 assists and 15 digs.

Deatherage, a senior from Huntington Beach, Calif., receives her third All-Conference selection as she averages 3.5 kills, 1.8 digs and 0.5 blocks per game. She has had double-digit kills 26 times this year and has recorded six double-doubles this season. Deatherage is Northeastern’s career record holder in kills and total attacks and co-record holder for career service aces.

Spangler, a junior from Hanover, Penn., makes her second straight All-Conference appearance this year and averages 2.4 kills, 0.5 digs and 1.1 blocks per game. Spangler has had several outstanding single performances, racking up a double-double against Robert Morris on Sept. 21 and tallying an impressive 13 total blocks against New Hampshire on Nov. 10.

Pellegrini, a senior from Cloverdale, Calif., averages 2.7 kills, 1.3 digs and 1.1 blocks per game. Pellegrini holds every Northeastern career and single-season blocking record and is on pace to become NU’s single-season and career leader in hitting percentage.
