The Huskies came out and played the defending America East champions even through the first four minutes of the game. But with the score 8-8, Maine started to take over, going on a 22-2 run to open a 30-10 edge. The Black Bears took a 36-20 lead into intermission behind 12 points from Kelly Bowman and 11 from Jamie Cassidy. The Huskies scored the first six points of the second half to get within 10 at 36-26 with 17:41 to play, but NU got no closer the rest of the way. Cassidy finished with a game-high 24 points to along with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Lani Lawrence (7-11 from the field) and Tesha Tinsley paced the Husky attack with 17 points apiece. It was NU's 12th straight loss to the Black Bears.
