|  The Syracuse Orange won their seventh straight game Sunday afternoon, defeating the women's basketball team 79-46 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. The Orange's Chandrea Jones was Syracuse's leading scorer with 18 points. Freshman Jasmine Crew narrowly missed a double-double with a career high 18 points and nine rebounds, The Huskies' record falls to 3-4 while Syracuse improves 7-1. Northeastern returns home after four straight games on the road next Saturday when they host New Hampshire at Solomon Court. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
Northeastern was shorthanded, as the Huskies dressed just nine players due to several injuries, including to several post players. The Orange were able to take advantage, outscoring the Huskies in the paint. Northeastern did outrebound the Orange on the offensive glass, 12-10.
Syracuse began the game on an 11-0 run that set the tone for the game as the Huskies struggled shooting the ball in the first half. Syracuse on the other hand shot the ball well in the first half, shooting 56 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. Jones led all scorers in the first half with 16 points.
The Huskies did a better job on Jones in the second half, limiting her to just four points on 2-5 shooting.
Stefanie Hodell had five steals for the Huskies in addition to her seven rebounds. Ashlee Feldman had a team high five assists.
