The women's basketball team defeated New Hampshire Saturday afternoon at Solomon Court, 78-71, behind a career high 27 points from Lucia Pablos on 9-15 shooting. The win improves Northeastern's record to 4-4 on the season, and 2-0 at home, while the Wildcats fall to 3-7.

After falling behind 5-0 in the opening minutes, Northeastern scored seven straight points on a lay-up by Pablos, a three-pointer by Pablos, and two foul shots from Ashlee Feldman. Once in front, the Huskies would not trail again, as the Huskies reeled off a 17-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 17-7 lead.

The Huskies continued to build their lead over the next several minutes, as the Huskies received contributions on the offensive end from Pablos, Shaleyse Smallwood, and Kim Carr during the run.

A lay-up by Stefanie Hodell with 5:22 in the half gave the Huskies their largest lead of the game at 34-17, but that would be NU's final points of the half, as a 12-0 Wildcats run cut the Huskies' lead to 34-29 at halftime.

UNH's Amy Simpson made a three-pointer to begin the second half, cutting the lead to two points, but that would be as close as the Wildcats could get as NU wouldn't concede the lead. UNH got to within two points on three different occasions, but each time Northeastern responded with a basket.

Leading 47-43 with 12:56 to play, Feldman connected from long range, giving the Huskies some breathing room. After Jasmine Crew made a jumper, Simpson hit a three of her own to make the scored 52-46, but NU responded with four straight points, capped off by another three from Feldman to make the score 58-46 with 9:39 remaining. NU was then able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game and salt away the clock to claim the win.

Crew was the other Husky to score in double figures with 11 points, while Kendra Walton grabbed 10 rebounds and Hodell contributed nine points and nine rebounds.

The Huskies return to action next Saturday when they host Stony Brook at Solomon Court. Tip-off is 1 p.m.
