The Huskies had four players score in double figures for the third straight game, but were unable to overcome Virginia Commonwealth, falling to the Rams 77-65 Sunday afternoon at Solomon Court. Shaleyse Smallwood and Lucia Pablos each had a team high 14 points, but VCU shot 55.4 percent from the field en route to the win. Northeastern falls to 5-6 (0-1 CAA) on the season, while VCU improves to 11-1 (1-0 CAA).

VCU jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the game's opening minutes, but Northeastern was able to close the gap in a matter of minutes. Kendra Walton connected from three-point range, then Smallwood made a jumper and a three-pointer on consecutive possessions to make the score 12-10 in favor of the Rams.

Northeastern went ahead 18-16 on a three-point play by Pablos with 9:56 remaining, however that would be the final time the Huskies held the lead. After that play, VCU opened up a 10 point lead after going on a 16-4 run to take a 32-22 lead with 4:48 left.

The Huskies got back in the game by scoring five straight points on baskets by Pablos and Kim Carr, and a foul shot by Stefanie Hodell to make the score 32-27 with 3:02 left. Northeastern then went into halftime trailing 38-32.

VCU opened the second half on a 12-4 run, making the score 50-36. Northeastern was unable to make much of dent in the Rams' lead the rest of the half, as the visitors continued their hot shooting from the first half, shooting 56.0 percent in the second half.

The Huskies shot the ball very well themselves, shooting 50.0 percent from the field, the third straight game NU has shot 50.0 percent or better from the field.

Feldman with 12 points and Carr with 10 were the other two Huskies to record double figures.

Northeastern returns to the court on Thursday when they take on Towson. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
