| 2007-08 Schedule/Results Towson 55, Northeastern 46
In a game that featured strong defense and long runs in the second half by both teams, Towson emerged victorious over the Huskies Thursday night, 55-46 in Towson, Md. Lucia Pablos led all scorers with 13 points, and Kendra Walton had her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Towson wins its sixth consecutive game and improves to 10-3 overall (2-0 CAA), while Northeastern falls to 5-7 overall (0-2 CAA). With Northeastern trailing 13-10 midway through the first half, the Huskies tied the game on a three-pointer by Walton. Northeastern then scored on their next three possessions, a jumper by Jasmine Crew, a fast break lay-up by Crew after she made a steal, and a lay-up by Walton to take a 19-15 lead. The Tigers then scored six of the game's next eight points to tie the score at 21. But the final basket of that stretch, a jumper by Jamell Beasley with 6:15 left, was the final Tigers field goal of the half. Northeastern played stifling defense during this stretch, forcing three turnovers and blocking a shot. With its defense shutting Towson down, the Huskies took a 24-21 lead on a three-pointer by Pablos, and built their lead to 28-22 at halftime on two more baskets by Pablos. Towson began the second half on a 15-3 run that started with a three-point play by Holly Mahan, that made the score 29-25. The Tigers then scored six straight points to take a 31-29 lead. A jumper by Crew tied the score at 31, but that would be NU's last points for nearly four minutes as the Tigers took a 37-31 lead. A lay-up by Shaleyse Smallwood ended the streak and made the score 37-33. After Smallwood's basket, Towson began another run that expanded its lead to its largest of the game, 45-34 with 5:53 remaining. Northeastern though began a run of its own, an 11-3 spurt that cut the Tigers' lead to 48-45 with 2:32 to play. Stefanie Hodell began the run with a lay-up, and Ashlee Feldman capped it off with a three-pointer from the right-hand elbow. The Tigers upped their lead to 50-45 on two foul shots by Beasley on their next possession, then after a Northeastern turnover, Shanae Baker-Brice converted two more foul shots to make the score 52-45 with 1:17 remaining. Northeastern forced Towson into 18 turnovers and to 37.7 percent shooting, but Towson made nine more foul shots. The Huskies return to the court Sunday afternoon when they host Hofstra for a 2 p.m. tip-off. Official Basketball Box Score -- GAME TOTALS -- FINAL STATISTICS
