The Huskies picked up their seventh straight win and advanced to the CAA Tournament quarterfinals with a 78-46 victory over No. 11 George Mason Thursday afternoon in Newark, Del. Northeastern blitzed the Patriots in the first half, shooting a scalding 68 percent from the floor, and using a 30-3 run that included 25 unanswered points to put the game away early. Lucia Pablos led all players with 21 points, while Ashlee Feldman had 18. The Huskies meet No. 3 VCU in the quarterfinals Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The Patriots scored the first four points of the game, but soon after the Huskies began an offensive show that wrapped the game up for NU by halftime. After Pablos scored five straight points to give the Huskies a 5-4 lead, Feldman went to work. Feldman, who made three three-pointers in overtime to help the Huskies beat the Patriots in overtime one week ago, made three straight shots, two of which were three-pointers.

After two foul shots by Kim Carr and a basket by Jasmine Crew, Crew and Shaleyse Smallwood then made consecutive three-pointers, giving the Huskies a 25-7 lead and the rout was on.

By the time Pablos made a three with 11:19 remaining, the Huskies had a 30-7 lead, scored 25 straight points, and had gone on a 30-3 run over six and a half minutes after trailing 4-0.

Northeastern made 11 of its first 14 shots, while Feldman was 4-4 in the first half, 3-3 from three-point range. The Huskies were shooting 73 percent from the field with 3:43 left in the half, and finished the first period shooting 68 percent from the floor, plus a scorching 77 percent from three-point range. NU led by as much as 33 points in the first half.

Smallwood's three-pointer in the first half moved her into fourth place on the program's all-time scoring list. She also added a game high seven assists, while Pablos and Stefanie Hodell each had a game high eight rebounds.

The 32-point margin of victory is the largest in a first round CAA Tournament game since Old Dominion beat East Carolina by 42 points in 1994.

Now at seven games, the winning streak is the school's longest since 1993-94.

In their only meeting this season, VCU beat Northeastern 77-65 at Solomon Court back on Jan. 6.
