The Huskies have announced its 2008-09 schedule. The 29-game slate features six games against teams that advanced to postseason play, including three games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in the 2007-08 season. The Huskies open up the 2008-09 season against Big East opponent St. John’s on Friday Nov. 14. Northeastern’s home opener is against MAAC Champion Marist on Friday Nov. 21 at Solomon Court.

Huskies help guide in Jimmy Fund Walk
The women’s basketball team worked as course guides at the 20th Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. The Huskies provided walkers information on where to register and also provided assistance to the walkers on where to go. The women’s basketball team also cheered on the walkers as they walked along the 26.2-mile course.

Huskies row down the Charles
The women’s basketball team spent a Saturday morning at the Northeastern University Henderson Boathouse riding on the Charles River. Men’s and women’s rowing coaches assisted the basketball team while NU participated in team building activities.

Huskies volunteer for breast cancer
The women’s basketball team volunteered their time at the 16th Annual Komen MA Race for the Cure on Sunday Sept. 7. The 5k-run/walk event is to support efforts on finding a cure for breast cancer. Head coach Daynia La-Force Mann and the Huskies, handed out water to the 5,000 participants in the race.

Non-conference schedule released
The Huskies' 2008-09 non-conference schedule has been released and it includes five games at home, two games at Big East opponents and three games at other New England schools. The Huskies will open the season on Friday, Nov. 14 at St. John's, and then they will travel to West Virginia on Tuesday, Nov. 21 to play a Mountaineers team that is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Huskies open their home slate on Friday, Nov. 21 against Marist. Other home games include matchups with Boston University, Holy Cross, Delaware State and Harvard. The Huskies will also travel to Rhode Island, Stony Brook, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Chelsea Perry joins coaching staff
Chelsea Perry has been named an assistant coach of the women’s basketball team, head coach Daynia La-Force Mann announced Thursday. Perry comes to Northeastern after spending four years as an assistant coach at Union County College in Cranford, N.J., where she helped lead her team to consecutive Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference championships.

La-Force Mann featured in St. Lucia newspapers
Huskies' head coach Daynia La-Force Mann was recently featured in two newspapers in her native St. Lucia in the caribbean. La-Force Mann was first profiled in the St. Lucia Mirror, followed by a profile in the St. Lucia Star. La-Force Mann was also the subject of a sit-down interview on a St. Lucia TV show, where she described her upbringings and current success at Northeastern.
Robinson added to recruiting class
Head coach Danyia La-Force Mann has announced the addition of Chanez Robinson (Newark, N.J./Malcolm X Shabazz) to her 2008 recruiting class, bolstering an already strong group of incoming freshmen. A 6’2 center, Robinson led Shabazz to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions title in 2006 and 2008.

Head coach Daynia La-Force Mann has announced the Huskies’ 2008 recruiting class. Kashaia Cannon (Providence, R.I./Bay View HS) Jamie Conroy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford), Kristina Coppolino (Holmdel, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), Jayne Cox (Princeton, Ohio/Princeton), Daniela Iervolino (Manhasset, N.Y./St. John’s the Baptist), and Brittany Wilson (Providence, R.I./Bay View HS) will make up the class of 2012 for the Huskies.
