Huskies release 2008-09 non-conference opponents June 12, 2008 Boston, MAThe Northeastern women's basketball team has released its non-conference opponents for the 2008-09 season and it will include games against members of the Big East, Ivy League and Atlantic 10, head coach Daynia La-Force Mann announced Thursday.
The Huskies will play 11 non-conference games this upcoming season, highlighted by season-opening trips to St. John's on Nov. 14 and to West Virginia on Nov. 18. Both teams are members of the Big East, and the Mountaineers are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Northeastern will open its home slate at Solomon Court with a Nov. 21 game against Marist. The Huskies then face local rival Boston University at home on Nov. 25.
The Huskies will then play four consecutive games on the road, going to Rhode Island on Dec. 3, Stony Brook on Dec. 6, New Hampshire on Dec. 14 and Massachusetts on Dec. 20.
The Huskies will wrap up their non-conference schedule with three at home, playing Holy Cross on Dec. 22, Delaware State on Dec. 28 and Harvard on Dec. 31. It will be the first time ever that the Huskies take on Delaware State.
Northeastern, which went 5-5 in non-conference play last season, finished the 2007-08 campaign at 14-16, 8-10 in the CAA. The Huskies reached the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament and their 10-win improvement from the 2006-07 season was the fourth-best improvement of any team in Division I. The Huskies will return nine lettermen this upcoming season, and they have seven incoming recruits, including 2008 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year Brittany Wilson. 2008 Northeastern Women's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule
