Syracuse won the 26th rowing of the Orange Cup over the 2000-meter course of the Charles River. The Orange women, clocked at 6:31.9, were two seats up on Pennsylvania at 6:33.0 with Northeastern at 6:39.8 and UMass Amherst at 6:40.6.

The race was rowed with a tail wind and Syracuse's 6:31.9 sets a new Orange Cup record for the Charles. The previous best was NU's 6:41.0 in 1993.

Penn led at the 500-meter mark by two seats with NU and Syracuse tied and UMass trailing by a length. At 1000, Penn had four seats on Syracuse and Syracuse four seats on NU. By 1500, Syracuse had tied Penn and both had open water on NU. Syracuse broke the tie with 30 strokes to go to win its fifth Orange Cup. NU has won 12 and Penn 9.

The Huskies are now 3-4 for the season and travel to Orchard Beach Lagoon next weekend to row Columbia and Navy.
