Huskies defeat UMass
The Northeastern University women's crew team upped its record to 9-1 with an early seven-length victory over the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on Saturday.
The Huskies powered over the 2000-meter course in a brisk 6:35.5 to UMass at 6:58.0. The times were bolstered by a gusty tailwind. The outcome of the race was decided early as Northeastern had open water after 500 meters.
Next weekend is the second annual Beanpot Regatta with all major five Charles River crew teams participating. Last year Radcliffe was the winner, NU second, then BU, BC and MIT.
