Northeastern 4, Maine 1
Northeastern Women's Hockey Results Breaking out of an early season goalless drought, swift Northeastern sophomore Brooke White scored twice Saturday to lead her Huskies to a 4-1 win over the visiting Maine Black Bears. White's first goal of the season came late in the first period when she banged one in on the Maine doorstep. However, she upstaged herself with a falling down shot from the right circle midway through the third period to close the scoring on the day. The first and third periods were dominated by Northeastern on the shot counter, but the Maine defense played a tight checking game and rookie goaltender Dawn Froats made 29 saves to keep the contest close. In the second period, the Black Bears played a virtually even battle with the host Huskies, as the teams traded power play goals. Sniper Hilary Witt notched for Northeastern. Kira Misikowetz answered for Maine to break the shutout bid for NU's Erika Silva with under two minutes remaining in the middle frame. The victory moves the Huskies to 8-2-1, while Maine falls to 0-6-1.
