Northeastern 2, New Hampshire 1
Northeastern Women's Hockey Results In a classic ECAC women's ice hockey confrontation Sunday, the Northeastern Huskies edged the visiting Wildcats of New Hampshire by a slim margin of 2-1. NU sophomore Brooke White gave the Huskies the early lead midway through the first period when she snapped a quick wrist shot that found the open high corner on UNH goalie Jen Huggon. Her third goal of the season was also her third of the weekend, as she put her first two of the year in against Maine on Saturday. Husky flagship forward Hilary Witt continued her goal-a-game pace with her 10th tally in as many contests. Her netmouth scramble score at 14:24 of the second put Northeastern up 2-0. NU goaltender Erika Silva was looking for her fifth shutout of the season, but UNH winger Tina Carrabba spoiled that bid with a flukey goal, her third of the year, with under six minutes remaining in the contest. However, the Wildcats were not able to score the equalizer before the final buzzer. Silva finished with 21 saves in the defensive battle, pushing NU's record to 9-2-1 overall, 6-1-1 in the ECAC. Huggon stopped 30 Northeastern shots in a losing cause, as UNH drops to 6-2-0 overall, and 4-2-0 in conference.
