| 1999-2000 Schedule/Results Harvard 5, Northeastern 3
Northeastern rookie Kim Vallone opened the scoring just two minutes into the game with her third career goal right on the doorstep of Harvard netminder Crystal Springer. But the Crimson came storming back, with three goals in the span of 4:10, including a power play goal by Shewchuk. The Huskies got one back early in the second period when junior Betsy Dyke sent a tricky wrister in from the blueline that fooled Springer. Near the 10-minute mark, NU sniper Hilary Witt appeared to score the equalizer on a breakaway, but it was ruled that she hit the goalpost. Less than a minute later, Harvard’s Angie Francisco hit the post at the other end. Harvard made it 4-2 when sophomore blueliner Angela Ruggiero punched in a rebound of a shot by teammate Jennifer Botterill on a 4-on-4 situation. The Crimson retained control of the contest until late in the period when Ruggiero was whistled for hooking at 16:59. Husky coach Heather Linstad gambled by pulling starting goaltender Erika Silva during the ensuing power play, and it paid off when junior Lisa Giovanelli scored to make it a 4-3 NU deficit with just under two minutes to play. Silva was again pulled in the closing minute, and Shewchuk found the open net to complete the hat trick. Silva finished with 30 saves in the game, including multiple point-blank stops and a few impressive glove saves. Springer was equally impressive, as she remained undefeated on the year in a 29-save outing. With the win, Harvard improves to 11-2-2 and jumps into sole possession of first place in the ECAC at 9-2-2. Northeastern drops to 13-3-2 overall and 8-2-2 in conference play.
