| 1999-2000 Schedule/Results Cornell 4, Northeastern 3 A natural hat trick by Big Red senior Erica Olson paced a Cornell effort that led to an upset victory over Northeastern at Matthews Arena Sunday afternoon. Olson capped her feat with an impressive deke move in front of the NU crease that gave Cornell a 3-2 lead with under three minutes remaining in the game. Teammate Alison Stewart scored an empty-netter at 18:51 to seal the road victory. Northeastern jumped out to a 2-0 lead late in the first period on a tipped-shot goal by Husky rookie Kim Greene at 16:31. Junior Lisa Giovanelli tallied her ninth of the season two minutes later on a nifty pass from linemate Brooke Whitney that set her up in the slot. But Cornell struck back in the second period, as Olson scored the equalizers in the latter half of the frame, both at point blank range in front of NU netminder Erika Silva. Silva made 12 stops in the second period and 22 overall, but was bested by Cornell counterpart Elizabeth Connelly, who shutout the Huskies on 16 shots in the second and finished with 35 saves on the day. Giovanelli added a second goal to her ledger with 16 seconds left in the contest, but it was too late for the Huskies, who fall to 10-4-2 in ECAC play and 15-5-2 overall. The Big Red make a big jump towards the playoffs with the win, standing now at 6-11-1 in conference and 7-11-1 overall. Cornell is still in the hunt for the final ECAC playoff berth while the Huskies are struggling to secure one of the top four berths that guarantee a first round game on home ice.
