Witt got the scoring started just 24 seconds into the game when she redirected a shot from defenseman Kim Beneduce past Niagara goaltender Tania Pinelli. She tallied again six minutes later when she was launched on a shorthanded breakaway by fellow senior Erine Metcalf. Niagara made it interesting in the second period right off the opening faceoff when Valerie Hall cruised in and scored on a point blank shot to make the score 2-1. But the Huskies came back with three unanswered goals, including two on the power play, to seal the home victory. Witt completed her hat trick when she deflected a Kim Greene shot into the net just six seconds into a third period power play. Linemate Brooke Whitney also scored in the third period and finished her day with four points. Outshooting the Purple Eagles 32-12, the Huskies forced Pinelli to make 27 saves to keep the contest close. Northeastern netminder Erika Silva faced a mild workload at the other end and finished with 11 saves. The victory moves the Huskies to 17-7-3 overall and 11-5-3 in the ECAC, while Niagara falls to 10-10-1 in the conference, and 17-10-2 overall. The two teams will faceoff again tomorrow at Matthews Arena at 2 p.m. Scoring: 1st Period: 2nd Period: 3rd Period: Niagara Goaltending:
