| 1999-2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 7, Yale 1
At the 6:48 mark of the opening frame, NU forward Hilary Witt (pictured) punched a rebound past Yale goaltender Katie Hirte for her 26th goal of the season. The score also pushed Witt’s career point total to 200, a Husky record. Three minutes later, NU defenseman Erine Metcalf launched a powerful slapshot that sailed by Hirte just seven seconds into the first power play of the game. Husky sophomore Brooke Whitney assisted on both goals and added one of her own later in the period to extend her personal point streak to nine games. It was more of the same in the second period, as Northeastern scored four unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Junior Colleen Coen opened the second period scoring by batting home a rebound shot at 8:28, and later set up sophomore Nancy Collins for her second goal of the season. Yale broke the shutout with a fine redirection in front of the net by Lindsay Batson. Batson tipped a Jane Resor shot past relief goaltender Mary-Ellen Courtemanche, who came on midway through the game to take starter Erika Silva’s place. Silva made only two saves through thirty minutes before being rested. Courtemanche allowed only one goal and made five saves in relief. At the other end, Hirte faced a heavier workload, finishing with 32 saves on the day. With the win, the Huskies climb to 19-7-3 overall and 13-5-3 in the ECAC, with an important conference faceoff with Princeton on deck tomorrow. Yale falls to 2-18-1 in the conference, and 6-19-1 overall.
