BOSTON, MA - The Northeastern University women's ice hockey team defeated non-conference opponent Mercyhurst 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Huskies' season-opener at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass.
Brooke White scored NU's first goal of the game off an assist by Lindsay Ball in the first period of action, while Nancy Collins sent Kim Greene's pass by Mercyhurst goalie Tiffany Ribble.
Chanda Gunn stopped all 39 shots she faced for the shutout.
NU improves to 1-0 on the season, while Mercyhurst falls to 2-1 on the year. Next up for the Huskies is Vermont on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.
