BOSTON, MA - Behind two goals from senior captain Brooke Whitney, the Huskies downed Wayne State 5-1 at Matthews Arena on Saturday.

Whitney reached a milestone as she became only the fifth player in NU history to accumulate 150 career points.

Whitney reached 150 at the 14:27 mark in the first period when her centering pass was redirected in by senior captain Erica Archambeau for NU's first goal. Five minutes later, Whitney notched a goal of her own on a wrist shot that beat Warrior goalie Tinna-Anne Thibideau to make the score 2-0.

The Huskies (20-2-0) continued their domination of the Warriors (3-18-2) throughout the second period with freshman Lindsay Ball scoring at 8:13 and Whitney racking up another goal less than a minute later. NU made it 5-0 as junior Michelle Lorion scored with under a minute left in the period. NU outshot Wayne State 22-9 in the second period.

The Warriors were able to break the shutout in the third period as Melissa Wenzel slipped one by goalie Jennifer Buckley with just 1:44 left on the clock. Buckley had entered the game for starting goalie Marisa Hourihan with eight minutes left in the game. The Husky goaltenders made a combined 29 saves while Thibideau turned away 33. Hourihan extended her streak without allowing a goal to over 225 minutes as she has stopped all 91 shots she has faced this season. The freshman improved her record to 4-0-0 on the season.

These two teams play again Sunday at 2 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
